Three quarter oak barrel planter

Our three quarter barrels make ideal raised beds, great for trees as they are deeper.  Cut to order with the metal bands secured with tacks so the bands will never drop it will add rustic charm to any garden.

The barrels are made of oak each barrel stave being about 15-20mm thick. Having been in the whisky trade for many years they are weathered and may also have markings on from the distillery which adds to the character. As the barrels are stored inside whilst used in the whiskey industry they have many years left in them and you can expect a barrel to last 10 – 15 years on average and another great advantage is that they are frost proof. 

Using oak barrel planters is an eco-friendly way of planting and also adds rustic charm to your garden. The planters are burnt inside which is part of the whisky industry (burning the inside helps with the flavour of the whisky and also helps colour it), all you need to do is add drainage holes in the planter (we can do this for you if you add a note to your order), put some stones/gravel in the base and then fill with soil before putting your plants in.
